Gaja Grzegorzewska

Gaja Grzegorzewska (b. 1980) is
a writer, critic and journalist. She was
educated in film, which is clear in how her
novels use images. She debuted in 2006
with the novel The Reaper, after which
she was declared a rising star of the Polish
detective novel; yet she swiftly proved that
genre prose was far too restricting for her.
In 2011 she received the prestigious High
Calibre Award for best detective novel in
Poland. She is an amateur capoeira fighter.
Her most memorable novels have been:
The Reaper (2006), The Night from Thursday
to Sunday (2007), The Drowner (2010),
The Grave (2012), The Concrete Palace
(2014) and Stony Night (2016).
