Andrzej Bart

Andrzej Bart (b. 1951) is a writer,
screenwriter, and documentary filmmaker.
He’s one of the most gifted and reclusive
Polish artists working today. His first
novel appeared in 1991 and won several
major literary prizes; each subsequent
book has been cause for great discussion,
celebration, and debate. He wrote
the screenplay for the film Reverse
(2009), which received numerous awards
at international film festivals. Bart
has also directed several documentary
films, including Eva R. (about Artur
Rubinstein’s daughter), Marian Brandys,
and Hiob (about the painter Marek
Rudnicki – a figure he returns to
frequently in A Supposed Dybuk).
